The excitement about The Generous Mr. Lovewell began with great reviews from USA Today, Billboard, Christianity Todayand more, and then ignited a massive twitter groundswell as artists such as Chris Daughtry, The Jonas Brothers, Mandisa, TobyMac, Jeremy Camp, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman and more tweeted their support for MercyMe and The Generous Mr. Lovewell.   In addition, fans all across the country have been sharing their stories of seeing Mr. Lovewell in action as they experience and watch good deeds take place all across the world.

“We have just been blown away by all the support from everyone for this album,” commented lead vocalist Bart Millard.  “But more than that, it’s incredibly humbling to see the “love well” idea take flight – there are so many people out there living for Christ and truly living His love in the lives of others.   I am in awe and incredibly thankful for the opportunity to witness it all!”

Named Billboard magazine’s “Christian Song Artist of the Decade,” MercyMe has been putting their message from The Generous Mr. Lovewell into action themselves over the past few weeks.  Partnering with radio stations nationwide, they have made stops at Rescue Missions, serving food, washing dishes, and more, while also making personal visits to music fans, giving them intimate acoustic performances, fellowship and financial contributions to those in need.  What is becoming known as the “Lovewell phenomenon” will continue on throughout the year as the band moves forward in their efforts and tours the country.

This past week we sat speechless as people rallied around “Mr. Lovewell!” While we had a blast trying to reach #1, seeing people actually making a difference by “loving others well” is what truly caught us off guard. What we hoped would take place during the next several months, actually started taking place in a week! In the past few days, we have literally heard hundreds and hundreds of stories of people living out the gospel by loving others well.

Why were we motivated to go for the #1 spot on the charts? Because it gives Mr. Lovewell legs! All of a sudden mainstream media starts asking what ‘Lovewell’ is all about, and just like that, we have an open door to point to Christ in a big way! The good news is, because of you, we have still succeeded! Hitting the top 5 on billboard is huge! There are much bigger mainstream labels that are scratching their heads wondering how a “Christian” album pulled this off? Heads have been turned and God will get His glory! Like missionaries being sent to a foreign country, please continue to pray for us and other artists that are trying to have a voice in a very “foreign” industry.

A Behind the scenes look at the brand new album from MercyMe – The Generous Mr. Lovewell!

Today’s the day!  The official release day of ‘The Generous Mr. Lovewell’.  We’ve been waiting a long time for this day and appreciate all the kind words that some of you have already said about the record.  And now, for a couple items of business to address.

First, with the potential of debuting this record at #1 we’ve decided that if that happens we’ll give away a new song.  And by new song, we mean one that you have never heard.  It’s a win-win right?

Second, if you’re looking around you’ll notice the very brand new MercyMe.org.  We’re still getting a few things organized, but take the time to look around and let us know what you think.

Another thing we’d like to draw your attention to is the new MrLovewell.com.  We came up with a crazy idea and figured you were just the folks to pull it off. We are looking for evidence of people loving well! In other words we want pictures of people going above and beyond to make someone’s day. For example, tip your waiter or waitress more than usual and leave them a note simply saying “love well”… take a picture of the note with your cell phone and send it to us. Another example you ask? Go to a coffee shop and buy a stranger’s coffee, and have the place write “love well” on the cup and take a picture of it!  Our record label asked us to come up with some type of marketing plan for all of our web buddies, so we thought doing something that makes people smile would be way more fun  Our goal is to post a ton of photos that could hopefully motivate more and more people to love well. So get out there and start making someone’s day, then head to MrLovewell.com and share your story.

MercyMe is hitting the road this week with visits to multiple radio stations all across the country to premiere their new single, “All of Creation,” from the band’s upcoming INO Records CD, THE GENEROUS MR. LOVEWELL (May 4).

The band has a ‘divide and conquer’ approach to this promo tour, with band members Bart and Barry hitting the West coast, Jim and Nathan the East Coast, and Robby and Mike the midwest.
