  1. Excellent writing as usual! Love that you always use different genres to express the emotions and get it spot on. Enjoyed your concerts too every time you present your music live. Bart’s voice has such genuineness it’s almost like hearing a great sermon everytime but through awesome music. Also like the fact that there’s always one or two on your album that can be used in corporate worship. The other pieces are just pure treasure in the eyes of many today who are suffering due to the state of this world… The ONLY thing that bothers me is the cover- as a female, the black outfits (that’s x5- the whole band!) – reminds me of the Dark Riders in Lord Of The Rings, I’m just saying… Really, congrats on making Him proud on yet another project!!

  2. Love yall…your music (I Can Only Imagine) brought me back to the Lord…I love your music and it also help in my walk…as long as I have Christian music like yours and I thank you for being an inspiration.  I do plan on getting the new CD but wont be till next week when I get my disability church…oh and my favorite song from yall is Home Sick…I have been going through alot of things including losing my mother in 2005. I had never heard this song until recently on my local radio station…It really touches my heart. Just thought that I would tell yall that….Keep up the aweome work for God because your music is reaching multitudes!

  3. #1 Thank God for putting the desire into your heart to do what you do and sustaining you while you do it.
#2 I have always said that you guys have a direct line into my soul and “The Hurt & The Healer” album just continues with that sentiment. It’s uplifting, comforting, convicting and just all around amazing. #3 Before listening the album I was almost SURE that the titled single would remain my favorite track (as it grips my inner being), but “Take The Time” blows me out of the water. Two tracks from The Generous Mr. Lovewell acts as songs for motivation and reference to the ministry God has laid on my heart to complete (LoveIs – homeless/in need), and this just so perfectly comes into alignment with the driving purpose of my being.

So in conclusion great job everyone, its a true delight to both ear drums and soul.

  6. This doesn’t sound like the MERCYME I loved from songs like:  “So Long Self”, “Crazy Enough”, “Here With Me”, and of course…. “I Can Only Imagine”.

Changing your record label and producers was a terrible idea.  Also, I don’t like the “sampled” drum sounds that this record is full of.

This sounds like a generic rock guitar band that stole Bart for a day and recorded an album.

    My 2 cents.

    1. Oh, and… we didn’t change our record label.  Our record label changed their name.  That’s all.

  8. Just got our copy of The Hurt and The Healer last Saturday in the mail. Pre ordered it at the Rock and Worship Roadshow when you guys came through Indy. in Jan. “The Hurt and The Healer” is great but I think ” You are I Am” is going to go through the roof. Keep up the good work and God bless you efforts. Can’t wait till you come through the mid west again!

      1. yes black is thinning… though one of you don’t really need it- I think that would be the bass player??

  10. I just finished listening to your new cd for the second time. And I love it! My favorites from the cd are: You Are I Am , The Hurt And The Healer, Without You Love. God has blessed you all with the gift of song.
    God Bless,Tiffany

  12. It’s great! I think with each album you can tell how you’ve all grown as a band. The slide guitar on Take The Time is awesome. The Hurt And The Healer makes me think of Hold Fast in the sense that Jesus is right there; loving tracks 4 & 5, too. There isn’t a least favorite track here. God bless you all, and I hope the Lord’s words through you reach lost souls and rekindle fires in “dead” Christians.

  14. Hi MercyMe (Bart, Nate, Robby, Barry and Mike!),

Over the past 3 days I’ve listened to your new album again
and again and I can truly say that every song is a blessing!

My favorites on The Hurt and the Healer are “You Don’t Care
At All”, “You Know Better”, “To Whom It May Concern” , “The Hurt & the
Healer” and “Don’t Give Up On Me”…. The lyrics to all these songs are stuck in
my head (in a good way)! But I especially love listening to, and singing out to
God, “You Are I Am”. This song I thank you all for. Simply amazing. When I saw
you guys perform this month, you sang “You Are I Am” and I knew then I couldn’t
wait to get this song to listen to all the time!

I’m thanking God for you guys and your music.

The Hurt & The Healer…another great album!

  16. I can’t even describe what the hurt and the healer has done for me. My daughter of 15 months went to be with Jesus May 11th and we played this song at her funeral. My very talented 16 year old neighbor played it for her. It speaks of pain that only Jesus can heal and gives hope to at the same time! I am so blessed by your music! Thank you for singing with biblical truth!

  18. LOVE The Hurt and the Healer!!!  Great message as usual.

Nathan, I play Bass with my Church Praise Band and with an Independant local band here in the DFW area and love your Bass Line in The Hurt and the Healer.  Where can I find the Tab for that? I have searched everywhere.

    Kenny from Texas…

  22. I have been fighting cancer and the side effects from surgery, chemo and radiation for the past 4 years. This song comes at the time when I’m having a hard time with why it seems that everything I do has a complication to extend. A part of me has died because they keep having to take pieces of me out. I’m about to have more surgery and hope to hear “it is done” (oh how that verse makes me weep with hope). Thank you for your work…for listening to God as He tells you what to write.
