Typing through tears you guys have really met with where America’s real heart is. God continue to bless you and keep you safe.
Beautiful. I love this song and I love the video.
My wife (soldier in the US Army) says “Stop makin me cry!”. :-).
That means she really likes it!
I don’t know who’s idea it was to use returning troops in this video but it was brilliant. The song brings tears to my eyes any way, but too associate it with these heroes coming home brought it right home. Thank you.
WOW. This is powerful. Thank you for your music and ministry.
By far, the best music video you’ve done. Our troops deserve this kind of honor. Although, I think adding your CTGB I’m proud to be an American, at the end, might have been kinda entertaining, lol. j/k. This was fantastic!
What a poignant analogy. To even try to put into human perspective what we will feel like when “we finally make it home” is so difficult, but the analogy you have used here is amazing. Thank you for this.
Absolutely beautiful! This is one of my favorites and it makes me think of my dad every time I hear it. You all did a great job with the video and the troops returning home was perfect fit for this song.
Well done guys! I would never have thought of doing the video that way? Guess thats why I am not in charge! It is truly beautiful!
Chills… I just have chills. Another reason why I am such an admirer of your music.
Thanks for such a wonderful tribute to our troops. It was difficult to watch as my husband is about to leave for Afghanistan, but I still loved it!!
I just watched “Finally Home” and I was having a rough day. My husband finally made it to his heavenly home 3 years ago on Jan.27,2006. I sure miss him but heaven is sweeter with him there. I love all of your music. Keep singing and spreading God’s Word. Thank You.
Typing through tears. This is an incredible song and very touching video. Makes me think of my dad and brings me to tears (good tears) every time I hear it. Thank you.
Beautiful song and video, guys! I love it so much. Tugs at my heart so much. Thank you. 😉
P.S. So glad Sophie is doing so much better, Bart! Hugs to you and your family!
I first heard this song yesterday on KLOVE and I couldn’t even speak… I have no words, just tears… I lost my Dad 15 months ago and this song sums up all that is in my heart… It is haunting and comforting at the same time. My young heart aches every day for him. Thank you for this beautiful song. It means so much to me… 🙂
WOW!! typing through tears— that was very powerful…wow!! oh my ……VERY emotional … next time i watch it — i will have tissues handy…. 🙂 God Bless
Thank you for that beautiful video. As my husband currently serves his 3rd tour in Iraq, I look forward to the day he finally comes home. The feeling of finally being where you want to be, home, has to be the best feeling in the world.
My husband will be home in just 12 days for some R&R, and I can not wait for his wonderful return. The emotions on that video are real. I can feel the excitement and relief now.
I am so grateful for this video.
p.s. we are continueing to pray for baby sophie.
I love this song, it makes me all emotional even though i don’t know anyone who died who is in heaven (besides Jesus of course). Its such a Sweet song.
i love this so much you guys — tears for so many reasons and smiles too
Guys, this is just over top. I’m balling like a little kid. Crying all over my computer. Frankly, it’s embarassing. A 41 year old isn’t supposed to behave like this. Dang.
Thanks for thouching my heart.
This is why God has blessed you’ll so very much – this video & song is awesome. Your music always speaks to so many people in different ways.. Your music always comforts me & inspires me..
This video pays tribute to some wonderful people who are serving our country.
I personally think of my dad when I hear this because it makes me think of seeing my dad again when I get to Heaven..my dad died when I was 15 & I miss him so much.
Guys, this song is just so powerful in its message!! I cry every time I hear it, so Bart you do make grown men cry with this song! Thanks for your ministry.
WOW!!!! That was awesome. Very well done. I’m holding back tears.
There are few things that touch my heart, especially in music and videos. Thank you for touching millions of lives through your music and testimony of God’s faith and love.
Thanks for a beautifully done song. My Mother died 2 years ago next month- (I know where she is & I know how to get there). My Dad is a WWII veteran (94 years old). Some days he’s here & some days he’s already home & I miss them both.
Thank you for helping me remember them every time I hear your song on the radio (KVNE- Tyler-Longview, TX)
Thanks for a beautiful video – I have tears on my eyes – memories of my Air Force husband coming home after a year of Iraq….tears of knowing he’ll have to go again…
THANK YOU Lord and Guys of MM ! ! ! ! !
This is such a beautiful depiction of the amazing love, sacrifice, comfort, and joy that is to be found in service to our Lord Christ and to our country ! ! !
Praise be to God, and many thanks to our country’s service men, women, and their families ! ! !

I could never express how much your music touches and heals my soul…. I have 4 children, all 5 grandparents and a sister-in-law (age 44) that awaits me in Heaven with our Lord.
I know that I will rejoice at the feet of our Father “when I finally make it home” with my family and I thank you for reminding me that pain, sorrow and grief are not the only things to be found in a loss here on Earth.
I know that darkness does not live in the LIGHT, and that Christ has conquered the grave and that (through HIM) will so will I ! ! ! ! Your ministry helps our LORD strengthen ME !
This gives this song a completely different meaning! Great idea! We can never do enough to honor the soldiers that protect us with their lives! How can you say “Thank You” enough to someone that is willing to give their life for us.
I am soooo looking forward to your concert in Iowa. It still isn’t Des Moines, but I will be there none-the-less!
Rock and Worship Road Show, Saturday, April 18, in Cedar Rapids!! =D
Amazing video! Amazing Song! Completely Amazing!
This song has always reminded me of my attitude towards my Dad. Now, with this video, I just sit and cry. I pray there was someone there that was enough of a witness to my Dad to allow him to make a decision for Christ that I never seemed to be able to do.
I work third shift in a very large facility completely alone. I am a single female, and Satan throws a lot of darts my way in the wee hours of the morning. I know God is with me, but sometimes I do feel so alone. I am blessed to listen to a christian radio station for about 3 hours of my shift. I heard this song 2 nights ago. Just pulled the video up on youtube. Had been praying for a highschool graduate friend, class of 1974, who is on his 3rd tour of duty in Iraq. His profile states he is more “hopeful” than “christian”. I have been praying for his salvation & his safety. I just emailed this video to him with a request for him to not just watch the video, but to listen to the words from his heart. I love all that MerceMe does, but this touched my heart especially. Sometimes I wonder if I will make it “Home-Heaven”, and this song gave me confirmation.
Thank you guys for what you do, and all the hearts you touch. Your music & ministry blesses more people than you could ever realize. Please don’t ever give up what God has called you to do. In Christ, Debbie B.
You are NOT a “funeral” band. Your songs are heartfelt and true. The words are what I wish I had come up with! Always perfect. You guys keep on listening to what God wants you to pass on to the rest of us! Thanks.
This song really touched my heart & brought me to tears. I couldn’t wait to purchase it., then saw the video and have close friends in Iraq. The video brought it home to me and I emailed the video to my friends (some of whom are not christians). I pray this ministers to them and changes their lives. Thank you Mercyme for doing what God called you to do!! Debbie
Great song, Great video…Hey Mike, I see you guys are going to be in Columbus GA on the 21st of February. Although I don’t live there anymore, if you want, I can give you guys all the 411 you need on some GREAT places to eat!!!
THIS SONG MAKES ME THINK OF MY DAD.HE HAS GOT HIS MADE NOW.THE WORDS ARE EXLACKY WHAT I WANT TO DO AND SAY TO HIM.WHEN I FINALY MAKE IT HOME.
Dedicated to my son wow. thanks
My son is a United States Marine. He graduated from boot camp this past December. Through my life there has always been a song playing on the radio that narrates something that I am experiencing a makes it a complete memory–good or bad. This song played as we drove to Paris Island and back to Ohio. Thank you for reminding me of our proudest moments with our son. God is so cool.
SO SOGOOD WE ARE SO THANKFUL
Thank you! This song really touched my heart, as I have 2 sons that have served, and one has made it home, one is still there.
God Bless you
By the way, if they ever make a movie out of the book The Shack, this song needs to be the theme song!!!
Praise God for the talent he gave you!!! I have been truly blessed by it!!!
great, great song – life indeed is about moving on and coming home
BEST SONG EVER!
i am fifteen i just lost my dad a few months ago i changed the word though from man to wo-man :} i love u guys. when i miss my dad and i cant bear it any more i play this song and it gives me hope..i would love for u to contact me. and start having some concerts in PA!!!! 🙂 ive gone through more then any teenager shud have to go through my dad left the lord and did almost every sin in the book he never got to kno me and i never got to kno him. he was an amazing man asked by the goverment to be a double agent for russia he was scouted by the philies. things haunt me..who will be a father figure in my life?? who takes me to baseball games and lets me sit on his lap? who do i go to advice for to? who walks me down the isle??? guess i shud listen to the song again huh? 🙂 this song reminds me i have a heavenly father…who i can go to for anything and wont let me down..thank u for ur ministry again God bless u and thanks for all yyour encouragement u espressed the words in my heart perfectly for this song
The first time I heard this song, it brought tears to my eyes because of the opening two lines. “Gonna wrap my arms around my daddy’s hand, and tell him that I missed him. And tell him all about the man i became and hope that it pleases him.”
Fellas, there are alot of men out there that miss their deceased fathers. Our dads were strong christian men who lived through the great depression and built this country in the 40s, 50, and 60s. I had the great pleasure of working in my father’s business for 15 years before leaving to pursue my career. My dad died in 1980 and I still cry for him. He was such a powerful and positive force in my life. Everything I ever learned, I learned from my dad.
Thank you for reminding me that I’ll meet him again “when I finally make it home”.
I would like to comment about the video. Its nice to pay tribute to our war heroes, but the song is not about returning troops. Its about returning to our heavenly home. You should be true to the actual meaning of the song and make a video that portrays the love of a deceased father, and the love of our Heavenly Father.
GOOD STUFF!!!!!! GOD BLESS ALL OUR HEROES!!!!!!
I am so moved by this song….it can have so many different meanings to so many people, but to me it brings me a peace that I haven’t had in along time…so thank you for the beautiful lyrics…Sincerly a proud new fan!
These Boys are anointed by God. They sing with LIFE CHANGING Lyrics, and true to life situations that we as Christains deal with daily!! I thank God for them and all the other Ministers that are singing the praises of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Amen!
What a beautiful song. I am currently planning my funeral and this is the only song I want played, over and over again so everyone realizes that I will be in my heavenly fathers home and that it is possible for them to go there to.
Also my son is back from Iraq, safe & sound and the soldier aspect of the video was heart renching also. Great Job Guys.
Love the video. When I first heard the song, I thought of my daddy who died when I was fifteen. Can’t wait to see him again and hug his neck. So thankful the Lord is allowing me to live with my dad and Him forever. What a great Savoiur we serve!
Being the wife of a retired US Army soldier the video is near and dear to my heart. I am so proud of all our soldiers, former and present. God bless you and your ministry.
It looks like many folks share my feelings. The first time I heard this song, I too, immediately thought of my dad. We lost him in Feb. of 2009, and words cannot possibly express the true depth of how much I miss him. Then adding the troops to the video, that just really drove it home that much more. Thank you, Mercy Me, for continuing to share your talents. And a special thank you to all of our troops, retired, current, and future, for your dedication and selflessness.
Sadly, during a time of deep depression, this song was encouragement to just “go home” and be done with it all.
