To Grill or Not to Grill….
0
Well, if there were two things in my life that I really wanted when I grew up, got married and owned my first house, it was a nice new Grill and a new Riding Lawn Mower. Well, when I did get my first house, the yard was so small I wouldn’t have been able to even turn a riding lawn mower around in it. But I did go by my first big gas grill. $119 at HOME DEPOT. It wasn’t extravagant, but it was gas or charcoal. Well now after 5 years, I have a new house with a bigger yard and riding lawn mower, but my grill has pooped out.
My question to all of you is…. Do I scrap the grill and all the memories attached to it or do I try and fix it? I think I can buy a replacement burner for like $15, but then it might not fit and I might not be smart enough to figure out how to do it. If I decide to buy a new one I know what I want. Its the new Char-Broil Red. Wow, its like the corvette of Grills. It can use propane or convert to natural gas. And to top it all off its Red. Would match the way my wife decorates nicely.
So please weigh in with your thoughts, comments, ideas or otherwise snide remarks and let me know what your thinking. Thanks… and have nice Spring day.

5Happy GMA Week
0So people always want to know what being at GMA week is like. Well this a little taste of how crowded it gets. I get a touch claustrophobic in big crowds. So if it looks like I’m hiding in the corner its because I am. I don’t mind talking to people, I just don’t like feeling trapped in the middle of a lot of people. So this blog goes out to all of you that like to run and find an empty corner during a big family reunion or find yourself in the mall at Christmas time. Staying strong at GMA….Robby
New Venture
0So as most of you know, I am getting my feet wet at being a band manager and I’m still learning all the ins and outs of this occupation. The first band that was brave enough to take me on as their manager is a band named Addison Road. Their a new band from here in Dallas. Their first album just came out 2 weeks ago and is doing really well.
Their first song “All That Matters” went to #1 on the CHR charts last week also. So needless to say, they are off to a good start. Although, as amazing as these things are for a new band, none of them am I able to take credit for. Most of the things that have happened up until now has been a result of their own hard work and perseverance. Sure, I have made the phone calls, sent emails and gave advise over this last 10 months, but that is what I’m supposed to do. The real job of a manager kicks now, at this point.
Am I able to take the momentum that has been started by the band and the record label and build on it. That is the part of my new venture that remains to be seen. Hopefully I have found a new area that I am good in and something that I can do when one day I am too old to travel the country playing drums for MercyMe. Lets pray that I’m am able to take all the things that I have learned and gained from MM and impart them into our next generation of young artists. If you get a chance, check out Addison Road.
I wouldn’t be a good manager if I didn’t say that!

And the Neighbors Rejoiced – "Lazy Part 2
0
So as some of you read, I get really lazy when it comes to taking down the Christmas lights off of my house. Im good about doing it on the inside, but the outside shows how lazy I really am.
So a mere 54 days after Christmas, I finally took down the Christmas lights off of the house. And my neighborhood rejoiced. I think the amazing thing in this whole process is counting up the many excuses that I can come up with that keep me from doing, what when its all said and done, took 45 min to complete.
Some of the excuses Im best known for include… “the wind is blowing too hard from the North today”. “Its too cold.” “I need a new ladder first.” or my personal favorite…. “I need to spend time with my family today.” When all else fails, you can really make yourself feel good by spending time with your family and put off work at the same time. So there you have it…this concludes the saga of the Shaffer house Christmas celebration. What started the day after thanksgiving, finally came to a close the third week of Feb.
Happy Holidays.

Addison Road

Hey fellow Bloggers…. its Robby here.
I wanted to let you guys know about a great band named Addison Road. They are a band out of Dallas that has signed with INO Records, which is the label we are on. The self titled record hits the shelves on March 18th.The reason Im bringing this up is because they have been given the privilege of being the current iTunes Discovery Download of the week. All you have to do is click on the link here for a free download of their first single “All that Matters”. Its currently #10 on the CHR charts.
I have been working with band for over a year and now co-manage them with our manager Scott Brickell. I really believe in them and think they are going to do great things. Thanks for you time and hope you like the song….

Just A Quick Thought
0So I haven’t posted a blog in awhile. I have been really busy. But I got this email from a friend in my small group today. Im not one to be overly spiritual with these, but I thought it was a good word and encouragement. Hope all you bloggers do too.

J. C. Philpot, “Strength Made Perfect in Weakness”
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is
made perfect in your weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Not your strength,
not your wisdom,
not your prayers,
not your experience;
but “My grace”—My free, My matchless grace,
independent of all works and efforts, independent of
everything in the creature—flowing wholly and solely,
fully and freely, out of the bosom of Jesus to . . .
the needy,
the guilty,
the destitute,
the undone.
You who are tried in worldly circumstances,
who have to endure the hard lot of poverty
—”My grace is sufficient for you.”
You who are tempted, day by day, to say
or do that which conscience testifies against
—”My grace is sufficient for you.”
You who are harassed with family troubles
and afflictions, and are often drawn aside into
peevishness and fretfulness—”My grace is
sufficient for you.”
Our weakness, helplessness, and inability
are the very things which draw forth the power,
the strength, and the grace of Jesus!
Believer, your case is never beyond the reach
of the words—”My grace is sufficient for you!”
The free, the matchless, sovereign grace of God,
is sufficient for all His people—in whatever state,
or stage, or trouble, or difficulty they may be in!
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is
made perfect in your weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
Superbowl v. Tivo
0
Usually about this day every year, I have a few friends over to eat food and watch the game. More importantly to watch the commercials. Well since the invention of a thing called “TIVO”, my sports watching has changed. I like to start watching whatever sporting event it is about an hour past when it starts. This way I am able to watch the game, fast forward through the commercials and still catch up to real time around the time the game is actually finished. It cuts my watching time in half and I dont risk someone telling me the outcome before I get there. Here in lies my dilemma.
1. Do I Tivo the game so that I can cut my watching in half, but then miss the greatness of the commercials?
2. Do I Tivo the game and fast forward through the game to get to the commercials, which also cuts the watching time in half? (I really dont care about the teams playing)
3. I watch it real time and forget about the Tivo?
Anyway you look at it, I think the Super Bowl Wins. The TIVO, as great as it is, has no solutions to the biggest sporting event of the year.
My prediction…..
Giants 17 – Patriots 35

Too Big To Play
0So what happens when you buy your son a Lightning McQueen tent for his Birthday?
He asks you to play in it with him.
Unfortunately, he doesnt realize that Im to big to play in it. But being the good father that I am, I did my best to climb through the tent. But for some reason for which I dont understand, I just cant fit. I guess its part of life. You get older, you get bigger and you cant play in a tent anymore. So my lessoned learned on this day is to never buy toys that require you to get down on all fours and make a fool of yourself. And if you do, make sure the whole is big enough for a grown man to get through.
Happy Birthday Levi!
