The Ego Has Landed
May 5, 2008 11 comments

Sam officially thinks he is a superstar because his mug is on a magazine.

He keeps asking me if he can take it to school and show all of his friends. I have always been an advocate of the child star really. Mainly because most former child stars have gone on to live very balanced and normal lives. Besides most of them serving a bit of jail time, it’s gone quite well I think.

All kidding aside, the article was a lot of fun. Due to the fact I got to talk about Sam and not how I wrote “Imagine.”

That was a great article. Your family is blessed to have such a hands-on Dad.

That was a great article. It sounds like Sam is being a real trooper at dealing with his diabetes. Its great that you and Shannon were able to support each other the way you did during that difficult time. Sam, as well as, Gracie and Charlie are very blessed to have the 2 of you as parents.

Although, I have never dealt with juvenile diabetes I do understand as I have a long family history of diabetics. My sister died from complications of diabetes when she was 44 years old. It is hard trying to adjust to a routine, the shots and not being able to eat the sweets the way others can. I pray that they will find a cure for this soon.

I suffered from gestational diabetes with both kids. Now that we are trying to conceive the next lucky child to live in our family I see those meds and finger pricks and such looming on the horizon. It is a challenge, even for just a short time. I pray that your little boy will be healthy his whole life and even with the pain-in-the-neck always on your mind tracking of his disease; I pray that it will not define him and that it will not defeat him. I don’t understand Type 1 as well as Gestational or Type 2. However, I’m sure it can be trying. May God Bless him and your whole family, Bart.

Congrats! Bart and sam, I just want want to let you know that my child has been dealing with this illness for about 1 1/2yrs. now it’s a life changing ordeal like you said on your website for image a cure. I think this cure is just around the cornor. I hear the docs and nurse talk about with our patient here at the Diabetes clinic (Childrens Hospital Fresno, Ca). My son is 11yrs. and I know for a fact that with GOD in our lives this would be a very difficult time. One thing God told us is to never claim that illness, and know that he is always in control! Joshua has a calling upon his life,
and he is going to use him (LORD)in a mighty way, and he is being used for his gorly!
You know I’m claimming this word for Sam life as well!!!
Cast your cares, God Bless you and families (band) Love you music!!!!!!!
