  • Alexander

    Some old Newsboys stuff…
    -Take Me To Your Leader
    -Breakfast
    -Shine
And cause I think you’d make a really good opera singer…
    -O Solo Mio

  • Charley

    Hey Bart,
This should test your vocal range
    1. To Hell With The Devil – Stryper

    3. Are You Real? KJ-52 / John Micah Sumrall

Awesome – yep, Im with ya on the “spongebob” theme, toby.

Also, Bart, please don’t sing that song again.

  • Donna

Oh, good one anything from the Veggie Tales! Or maybe try – “Down Under” or “Who Can it Be NOw” by Men at Work. Ya’ll are just too funny!

  • MMmike

These are some GREAT responses…but if I were voting….I might want to see something that might cause us to dance along…ie. New Kids On The Block…I hear there’s a reunion in the works….

    mike

  • Jessica

I think since Jim is such a die-hard Bon Jovi guy (ha) y’all should shoot for some 80’s greatest from them!
Also, I think I remember seeing somewhere on here that Bart was looking to go ‘country’ – so let’s hear something maybe a little bit country – a little bit of rock and roll!

    🙂

    ~Jessica

ps- I do agree with Mike though, that unburying some NKTB would be awesome!!

  • suzanne

You could do amazing things with “That’s what I like about you” by the Romantics.

I must say, I love your blog. You guys always put a smile on my face. And your music is the GO TO choice for my son, Jonathan. (Jonathan is 19, mentally retarded and autistic and he wears out your CD’s….you can see him on my blog if you dig deep…)

    Love y’all. God Bless!

  • MomS

    Anything BEE GEEEEEEZ

  • Brenda

All of these comments are pretty cool….. i was going to suggest

  • Aub

    I Will Survive 🙂

  • Nathan

Everyone has some great post but I want to see something they can dance to!!!

I want to see them either do “Ice Ice Baby” or “Hammer Time”!!!!

I think that would be hilarious!

  • jonathan

I am with Nathan…..I want Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer with the dances/outfits!!!! I also want to hear some “boy band” stuff like NKOTB, so I can make fun.

  • jonathan

I also want to see Mike doing Michael Bolton!!!!!

  • KayD

YES!! BeeGees!! How Deep Is Your Love!! Or anything BeeGees really, I’m not fussy. C’mon Bart, ya know ya can sang some BeeGees.. 😀

  • MMmike

Michael Bolton only does cover songs…therefore, it is truly impossible to cover Michael Bolton.

    mike

  • Sandi

haha, way to get out of that one Mike! lol. But NKOTB sounds good “oh oh oh oh oh oh, the Right stuff”, lol.

But seriously, another good suggestion would be something from Audio A…..ok, ok, I know you covered “Tremble” before (which, btw was incredible!), but I recall Bart saying something to the effect of “I couldn’t do what Mark does every night…it would give me a heart attack.” Well, he’s so fit now that he’s lost weight, I think it’d be awesome to hear how you’d all handle something like “Underdog”. 😉 That would be awesomely amusing!

  • Pete

I think you should do “Hit Me Baby One More Time” in a ballad type version….slow and not so poppy…

  • Katherine

Ha ha I love the requests so far-awesome.

I definitely think you should do some NKOTB-Right stuff, Tonight, Please Don’t Go Girl…lol

…and I would love to hear you do “Beautiful Day” but U2!

We definitely need to see some dancing with some singing!

Loving it…looking forward to this! 🙂

  • Bruce Cavalowski

I think they should cover “Shoes” by Hope of Glory…

    Nathan knows it. 🙂

  • Robbie Paisley

So, you want to dance? Awesome!!! This is going to be good. I cannot wait to see them. How about some of these?

Flashdance – What a feeling by Irene Cara (my sr manager did this one year at our company picnic it was hilarious)

You guys could sing and dance like zombies to Thriller by Michael Jackson

I’m so excited by the Pointer Sisters
Dancing in the dark by Bruce Springsteen

Or you could do a video of you all doing the Cha Cha Slide. This is a fun dance and you can get your wives to do it with you.

  • Emma

Bet On It from High School Musical 2. Crappy dance included. 😀

  • Lisa K

You have to do “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice but you MUST do it in the Jim Carrey version that he did on “In Living Color”. Check it out: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0A7tLVIsuNw

It’s a hoot!!! I would love to hear Bart do Curly’s “Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk”.

Here is my request:Rock of Ages. A couple at my church sings this song blue grass style. I believe the chorus goes: I have seen the Rock of Ages Jacob’s ladder hanging down. I have crossed the river of Jordan now my son i am homeward bound. Now i hope thats the way i goes but if not see if you can find it.

P.S. Please don’t sing that song again Bart. Makes me laugh so hard i get tears in my eyes. You guys never fail to make me laugh and god bless.

  • Ben

I have to also go with “The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything”.

I think it would be fun to do that on my own blog to. What about a Mr. Linky thingy so we can link here to our own videos?
    Just a suggestion.

  • Kaleb Trail

How about “NUMB-SOUL ASSASSINS” BY U2?

  • Kaleb Trail

    or “ONE” by U2?

  • Joshua

I think It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) would actually sound really good Mercy Me-ized. Actually, you might want to play with the lyrics cause, you know…whatever…

Also, let’s hear Rock N Roll Band by Boston…

Ok, love the VeggieTales suggestions, plus Elton John, Billy Joel.. but, what about Meatloaf? I could see Bart being Meatloaf. =D

  • kristina

    Hee hee! Too funny!
    I’m going to request:
“The Candy Man Can” from the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. 🙂
That just popped in my head. Not sure what that says about me, but I’d love to hear ya’ll sing it. 😉 You could sing the phone book and it would sound awesome. Oh great, now I’m sounding like Randy Jackson on Idol. Ick. 😉
Anyway, thanks for letting me request! Love you guys!

  • Kelly

You know…I have a feeling that “Try A Little Tenderness” by Otis Redding would be pretty awesome. 🙂 I can almost picture it…hmmmm…yeah. Fortunately you can’t hear me snort when I laugh…because I do a lot of that when I read your blogs…a good thing really. Now that I think about it, I probably shouldn’t have mentioned the snorting part. It is something that only happens when I think something is particularly funny…AND I swear it is contagious, because I never snorted until I spent two years working with one of my BFFs…okay…I have gone on long enough for you to forget the request…”Try A Little Tenderness” by Otis Redding. After I admitted to snorting…I think you can throw me a bone…right?

    Love you guys!

    Kelly

  • Rebecca T :P

I agree with Jen- you have to do the Kung-Foo fighting song!

  • Jessica

Hey guys! I would love to watch you try and sing Mmmbop by Hanson. You’ve mentioned them before, and it would just be something great to see 🙂

  • Kim Franks

LOL….. I’m laughing just thinking about what Nathan would do on this one…. Mac Davis’s “Lord, It’s Hard to Be Humble”…. It’s such a silly song I know ya’ll could really do justice to this one!!

  • Z

    How about

    Good Vibrations

By Marky Marky & The Funky Bunch?

  • Kim in Ga

Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler

They Call the Wind Mariah by Pernell Roberts
Sky Ball Paint by Dan Blocker
Careless Love by Michael Landon (Yes, it is appropriate.)
And for the Candy girls — Souvenirs by David Canary
You sure would make a lot of Bonanzai happy! The original versions can be found at bonanzaworld.net under Cast Music.

  • BetsyC

Oh, and I forgot. The one song that I most strongly think you should sing is the Bonanza theme song as sung by Lorne Greene. It would be a very cool thing, especially for the people who remember Bonanza when it was at the top.

  • islandchick

So I shared your CTGB with my friend, a fellow MM fan, and after we stopped laughing we brainstormed. I’m from an island, so I’d love to see you guys do Harry Belafonte’s Banana Boat song, you know “Daylight come & me wan’ go home”. She would love to see you do The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Just imagining Bart doing the accents in either song was enough to set us off again. God Bless you for bringing laughter to the lives of your fans.

  • Nathan

Ugly Day by Five Iron Frenzy. It’d be awesome.

  • Yaneli

“set me free” by casting crowns
    r

  • Tami

We have a request for grab bag….”Oops, I did it again” by Brittney S.

We saw you at Nighvision in Olathe last night. You are awesome. You definitely gloryfy God! As a 50 year old mother and grandmother, I appreciate so much your positve Godly example for our young people (and us older folk as well). Thank you for your willingness to serve our mighty God. Can’t wait until we are all in Heaven and we can praise him together for eternity. Won’t that be an awesome party!!! May God rain his blessings on you today and always….

  • Jerry

    Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport

  • Robert

Saw your show at Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix on Sunday night… it was awesome!!! You spoke about this place and suggested we come and request you cover a song. Well I have one that I would love to hear you do…

    Far Away by Nickelback

It’s a great song and if you read the lyrics you’ll see why it’s the first song I thought of when you covered Tom Petty’s Stand My Ground at the concert.

  • Steve and Kim

We put this in the wrong place the first time, my wife and I definitely think “Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi because of all the cheesy 80’s metal lines. “Jukebox Hero” by Foreigner or “Rock and Roll Band” by Boston. You need to do a road song or rock band song, they’re usually so awful, they’re great.

  • Kathy and Roger

Just saw you guys in Phoenix – awesome concert! Couldn’t wait to check out your blog and make a request. DH wants to hear the Beach Boys – “God Only Knows” (which would fall in the category of a NOT 80’s song) I was thinking of: “Africa” by Toto, “Owner of a Lonely Heart” or “Leave It” by Yes, and lastly, “Smoke From a Disant Fire” by the Sanford Townsend Band. (another NOT 80’s song)
Thanks for letting us put in our requests. God bless you guys!

  • Kathy and Roger

Ooops, just had a correction on one of the songs I requested. Its supposed to be “Smoke From a Distant Fire”. Thanks!

  • rosez1996

    Dear MercyMe,
I love and live for your music. It is very uplifting and keeps my life in perspective. Four years ago, April 14, 2008, I lost my best friend in the entire world and in my life to a car accident. Her name was Jessi Marie Stewart and she had 2 beautiful children, Tyler and Nicole. Anyway her husband, Joe, the kid’s father was killed in an accident 12 years earlier. Jessi and I lived together and raised the kids until her death. It was for more than 11 years. When she died that night I lost her and the kids and essentially my family. I miss her and the kids very much and wait in anticipation for the day we are all reunited again in the presence of our Lord. So, the song that I would love to hear you all sing is “More then a memory” by Garth Brooks.

I ask again, beg and plead for this, it would mean the world to me!

“More then a Memory” by Garth Brooks

P.s. I love the song “Homesick”. When I saw you in concert in Chicago and you explained the lyrics and background it really hit home for me. I listen to it on a reguler basis. Thank You!

    With sincere graditude,
    Angie Lorenz
