Can I tell you how much you crack me up? Please, let me tell you! My hubby is from Sulphur Springs and you know I’ve been to the ‘mall’ in Greenville. . .everytime I think of you all there is just tickles me.
Any who, what song. . .HUM how about Hello by Lionel Richie. you should be able to do something Great with that one!
Thanks for being you and real.
Angie
You crack me up! Are you the kookiest of them all?
Here are my song requests:
1. It’s the End of the World as We Know It – R.E.M.
2. I’ve Been Everywhere – Johnny Cash
3. Somewhere Over the Rainbow – Judy Garland
4. I Can’t Live If Living is Without You – Harry Nilsson
5. Stayin’ Alive – Bee Gees
You guys are AWESOME! I look forward to hearing ALL of these requests, as I personally think you have the talent to do them ALL!! Good Luck!!
Hey Bart,
This should test your vocal range
1. To Hell With The Devil – Stryper
2. Song Sung Blue – Neil Diamond (did you see how aweful he was on Idol?)
3. Are You Real? KJ-52 / John Micah Sumrall
These are some GREAT responses…but if I were voting….I might want to see something that might cause us to dance along…ie. New Kids On The Block…I hear there’s a reunion in the works….
I think since Jim is such a die-hard Bon Jovi guy (ha) y’all should shoot for some 80′s greatest from them!
Also, I think I remember seeing somewhere on here that Bart was looking to go ‘country’ – so let’s hear something maybe a little bit country – a little bit of rock and roll!
~Jessica
ps- I do agree with Mike though, that unburying some NKTB would be awesome!!
You could do amazing things with “That’s what I like about you” by the Romantics.
I must say, I love your blog. You guys always put a smile on my face. And your music is the GO TO choice for my son, Jonathan. (Jonathan is 19, mentally retarded and autistic and he wears out your CD’s….you can see him on my blog if you dig deep…)
All of these comments are pretty cool….. i was going to suggest
1. “Come on’ baby do that conga” ( is that the title)?
2. loveshack
3. Something by Elvis….
Have fun & looking forward to the video….. Peace
I am with Nathan…..I want Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer with the dances/outfits!!!! I also want to hear some “boy band” stuff like NKOTB, so I can make fun.
haha, way to get out of that one Mike! lol. But NKOTB sounds good “oh oh oh oh oh oh, the Right stuff”, lol.
But seriously, another good suggestion would be something from Audio A…..ok, ok, I know you covered “Tremble” before (which, btw was incredible!), but I recall Bart saying something to the effect of “I couldn’t do what Mark does every night…it would give me a heart attack.” Well, he’s so fit now that he’s lost weight, I think it’d be awesome to hear how you’d all handle something like “Underdog”. That would be awesomely amusing!
You have to do “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice but you MUST do it in the Jim Carrey version that he did on “In Living Color”. Check it out: http://youtube.com/watch?v=0A7tLVIsuNw
It’s a hoot!!! I would love to hear Bart do Curly’s “Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk”.
BART…YOU WOULD SOUND AWESOME ON “BLAZE OF GLORY” BY BON JOVI. JIM ON THE PIANO; BARRY ON ELECTRIC, MIKE ON ACOUSTIC, AND OF COURSE ROBBIE AND NATE IN THERE
Here is my request:Rock of Ages. A couple at my church sings this song blue grass style. I believe the chorus goes: I have seen the Rock of Ages Jacob’s ladder hanging down. I have crossed the river of Jordan now my son i am homeward bound. Now i hope thats the way i goes but if not see if you can find it.
P.S. Please don’t sing that song again Bart. Makes me laugh so hard i get tears in my eyes. You guys never fail to make me laugh and god bless.
Hey Bart, Thanks for the interview this morning. How about doing the song, “I Would Uh Wrote You A Letter But I Couldn’t Spell ?!?@#**!!! by Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs
“Honey in the Rock!”…there’s honey in the rock my brother, there’s honey in rock for you, leave your sins for the blood to cover, there’s honey in the rock for you!
Rock on you guys…we are still going through withdrawals…help!
Hi Bart! I’m one of the ones that woke you guys up for a delightful morning show interview But I wanted to request you to sing Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”…maybe Gracie could help?? LOL
I think It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) would actually sound really good Mercy Me-ized. Actually, you might want to play with the lyrics cause, you know…whatever…
Bon Jovi- Wanted Dead or alive
Collective Soul-Shine
Lions sleep tonight-Ahweemaway Ahweemaway Ahweemaway ooooooooooooooooooooo the lion sleep tonight
Please the whole band-specially you Barry and Jim
…OK… I’M SEEING A LOT OF 70′S AND 90′S REQUEST …I BELIEVE BART SAID 80′S…..ANYTHING VEGGIE WOULD BE COOL ALTHOUGH IT IS ACTUALLY 90′S ….WHAT WOULD CHARLIE SAY???
OH WORRA WORRA …
LET’S GET CRAZY ….DID PRINCE EVER SING ANYTHING NON-RISQUE…
Hee hee! Too funny!
I’m going to request:
“The Candy Man Can” from the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
That just popped in my head. Not sure what that says about me, but I’d love to hear ya’ll sing it. You could sing the phone book and it would sound awesome. Oh great, now I’m sounding like Randy Jackson on Idol. Ick.
Anyway, thanks for letting me request! Love you guys!
You know…I have a feeling that “Try A Little Tenderness” by Otis Redding would be pretty awesome. I can almost picture it…hmmmm…yeah. Fortunately you can’t hear me snort when I laugh…because I do a lot of that when I read your blogs…a good thing really. Now that I think about it, I probably shouldn’t have mentioned the snorting part. It is something that only happens when I think something is particularly funny…AND I swear it is contagious, because I never snorted until I spent two years working with one of my BFFs…okay…I have gone on long enough for you to forget the request…”Try A Little Tenderness” by Otis Redding. After I admitted to snorting…I think you can throw me a bone…right?
LOL….. I’m laughing just thinking about what Nathan would do on this one…. Mac Davis’s “Lord, It’s Hard to Be Humble”…. It’s such a silly song I know ya’ll could really do justice to this one!!
I had the opportunity to see you in Orange City, Ia and was just blown away. Since I’ve seen George Thorogood live 5 times could you do Bad to the Bone. Thanks. P.S. You guys were better than Thorogood.
Ringo by Lorne Greene
They Call the Wind Mariah by Pernell Roberts
Sky Ball Paint by Dan Blocker
Careless Love by Michael Landon (Yes, it is appropriate.)
And for the Candy girls — Souvenirs by David Canary
You sure would make a lot of Bonanzai happy! The original versions can be found at bonanzaworld.net under Cast Music.
Oh, and I forgot. The one song that I most strongly think you should sing is the Bonanza theme song as sung by Lorne Greene. It would be a very cool thing, especially for the people who remember Bonanza when it was at the top.
So I shared your CTGB with my friend, a fellow MM fan, and after we stopped laughing we brainstormed. I’m from an island, so I’d love to see you guys do Harry Belafonte’s Banana Boat song, you know “Daylight come & me wan’ go home”. She would love to see you do The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Just imagining Bart doing the accents in either song was enough to set us off again. God Bless you for bringing laughter to the lives of your fans.
We have a request for grab bag….”Oops, I did it again” by Brittney S.
We saw you at Nighvision in Olathe last night. You are awesome. You definitely gloryfy God! As a 50 year old mother and grandmother, I appreciate so much your positve Godly example for our young people (and us older folk as well). Thank you for your willingness to serve our mighty God. Can’t wait until we are all in Heaven and we can praise him together for eternity. Won’t that be an awesome party!!! May God rain his blessings on you today and always….
Saw your show at Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix on Sunday night… it was awesome!!! You spoke about this place and suggested we come and request you cover a song. Well I have one that I would love to hear you do…
Far Away by Nickelback
It’s a great song and if you read the lyrics you’ll see why it’s the first song I thought of when you covered Tom Petty’s Stand My Ground at the concert.
We put this in the wrong place the first time, my wife and I definitely think “Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi because of all the cheesy 80′s metal lines. “Jukebox Hero” by Foreigner or “Rock and Roll Band” by Boston. You need to do a road song or rock band song, they’re usually so awful, they’re great.
Just saw you guys in Phoenix – awesome concert! Couldn’t wait to check out your blog and make a request. DH wants to hear the Beach Boys – “God Only Knows” (which would fall in the category of a NOT 80′s song) I was thinking of: “Africa” by Toto, “Owner of a Lonely Heart” or “Leave It” by Yes, and lastly, “Smoke From a Disant Fire” by the Sanford Townsend Band. (another NOT 80′s song)
Thanks for letting us put in our requests. God bless you guys!
-
Here are a few I know you could do better, (except for the Gene Autry, and Roy Rogers) than the originals}
- Bringin Sexy Back (with some of the ehhemm “bad” parts edited)
- Hey Ya (outkast)
- King Tut (Steve Martin)
- Don’t Fence Me in
- Happy Trails To You
- Mustang Sally
- All Star ( Smash Mouth)
- I’m A Believer or Comin To America ( Neil Diamond)
- Mama Eu Quero ( by Carmen Miranda also covered by Lucille Ball ) , but you have to wear the fruit hat!
- They Call Me Fireman (George Strait)
Just a few with a wide variety!
Can’t wait to see if you cover any of them!

Sunglasses at Night by Corey Heart
September by Earth, Wind & Fire

Gram and Gramp Wilson. (how about Take me to the River by Talking Heads and If I Can Dream by Elvis
Dear MercyMe,
I love and live for your music. It is very uplifting and keeps my life in perspective. Four years ago, April 14, 2008, I lost my best friend in the entire world and in my life to a car accident. Her name was Jessi Marie Stewart and she had 2 beautiful children, Tyler and Nicole. Anyway her husband, Joe, the kid’s father was killed in an accident 12 years earlier. Jessi and I lived together and raised the kids until her death. It was for more than 11 years. When she died that night I lost her and the kids and essentially my family. I miss her and the kids very much and wait in anticipation for the day we are all reunited again in the presence of our Lord. So, the song that I would love to hear you all sing is “More then a memory” by Garth Brooks.
I ask again, beg and plead for this, it would mean the world to me!
“More then a Memory” by Garth Brooks
P.s. I love the song “Homesick”. When I saw you in concert in Chicago and you explained the lyrics and background it really hit home for me. I listen to it on a reguler basis. Thank You!

Clearly walking in His light, flying with His Spirit, and yet so grounded. You are an inspiration. You’re funny too. Ever consider Stand Up before you knew you had all this musical talent? In Christ-Always.
Ok, so my 2 1/2 year old daughter loves Mercy Me music and Jungle Book. I think you should do a duet with her of “Bare Necessities”. Ok, well no duet? How about a cover song grab bag?
Oh and I think Welcome to Pooh Corner would be awesome, too…not really funny, but cute.

Love your wacko side, & have been tuned in to your spiritual music for quite awhile as well. :>)

Hee hee! Too funny!
You could sing the phone book and it would sound awesome. Oh great, now I’m sounding like Randy Jackson on Idol. Ick.
I’m going to request:
“The Candy Man Can” from the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
That just popped in my head. Not sure what that says about me, but I’d love to hear ya’ll sing it.
Love you guys!
Kelly
I agree with Jen- you have to do the Kung-Foo fighting song!

Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport
Ooops, just had a correction on one of the songs I requested. Its supposed to be “Smoke From a Distant Fire”. Thanks!

WHEREVER WE GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEWSBOYS!
